Grant Information
Grants are monetary gifts that do not have to be repaid. To apply for all of the following grants, see Apply for Financial Aid.

If you qualify for any of the following grants, you will be notified in a financial aid award letter.


Ohio Dominican University Grant
Grants are awarded to many full-time students who demonstrate financial need. ODU grants commonly range from $400 to $6,000 per academic year. Recipients are required to file the FAFSA every year.

Athletic Grants
Talented student athletes may be eligible for athletic grants in Ohio Dominican's intercollegiate sports programs. Award amounts vary based on audition and coach's recommendation. Additional information is available from the Athletic Department (614) 251-4537.

Federal Pell Grant
The awards for 2008-2009 range from $400 to $4,731 per year. This is a need-based grant. Eligibility is based on income, family size, number of family members in college, and assets. Most students who qualify for a Pell Grant may receive it for full or part-time attendance.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Awarded to Pell Grant recipients with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA. These awards range from $200 to $2,000 at Ohio Dominican University. SEOG is awarded to full-time students.

Ohio Student Choice Grant
This grant is not based on income. The estimated 2007-2008 award amount is $660. Awarded to students who are pursuing their first bachelor's degree; did not attend college full-time before July 1984; and who attend full-time (12 or more credit hours) at Ohio Dominican University each semester. This grant may be used for a maximum of two semesters per academic year.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)
First-time freshmen from Ohio will be considered for the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG). The OCOG is awarded to students based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA. OCOG awards range from $600 to $4,992 per year.

Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG)
The award amounts range from $444 to $5,466. Eligibility is based on income and family size. Upon completion of the FAFSA, students will receive a letter at their home from the Ohio Board of Regents indicating eligibility. It is possible for a student to use the Ohio Instructional Grant for three semesters. If a student attends full-time summer, fall, and spring semesters, he/she could receive 150 percent of the amount listed on their letter from the Ohio Board of Regents. Full-time attendance is required for a full-time OIG, but part-time OIG awards may be available.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
This is a Federal grant that is awarded to first and second year full-time undergraduatestudents who are also receiving the Federal Pell Grant. Students must have completed arigorous secondary school program of study and second year students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. The amount awarded is $750 for first year undergraduate students and $1300 for second year undergraduate students.

National SMART Grant
This is a Federal grant that is awarded to third and fourth year full-time undergraduatestudents who are also receiving the Federal Pell Grant. Students must be majoring inphysical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, engineering, or certaindesignated foreign languages and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The amount awarded is $4000.
