Hey Everyone, This past September I posted a blog entitled "For A Friend", it read as follows; So normally in my weekly blogs I just write about what I have been
doing in the past week (classes/friends/activities), but this week I
would like to tell you all about my friend Devin Reid, and ask you to
keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Devin went to
high school with me, he was two years older than me, but we ran
together on the cross country team. During Devin's junior year, he
found out that he had a rare form of cancer. He had to travel to
Sloan-Kettering Memorial in New York City for treatment. Devin has
been in New York for the past three years, but this week he will be
coming home to Ohio. He has been through many different forms of
treatment, and there is nothing more the doctors can do for him. Devin
is one of the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
He never gave up, he never complained, he always stayed strong. Devin
was a cross-country runner through and through, and now he is at the
end of a very long, hard, and trying race. He will forever be a source
of inspiration for me and all that knew him. Again I ask you to please
keep Devin and his family in your thoughts and prayers. When Devin came home in September, the doctors told him that it was very unlikely that he would even make it through the flight from New York to Columbus, but he did. Devin lived for 4 more months. Devin's 3 1/2 year battle against cancer ended today January 5. 2009. Devin was a remarkable young man, and he will never be forgotten. Please keep Devin and his family in your prayers during this time.

you would like to know more about Devin, his family, and his fight
against cancer, and the remarkable life he lead, please check out www.caringbridge.org/visit/devinreid. Thanks & Peace, Mac
Hello Everyone, The start of a new year should be a time when we all can come together
in unity and peace regardless of our race, religion, gender, or sexual
preference. It is a time for new beginnings and new ideas. In a world defined by difference, our strength depends on
our common humanity. I would just like to take a minute to tell you all about a very worthy cause; The Human Rights Campaign. The Human Rights Campaign unites diverse
communities into a powerful whole striving for equality. The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights
organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end
discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves
fundamental fairness and equality for all.
HRC seeks to improve the lives of LGBT Americans by advocating for
equal rights and benefits in the workplace, ensuring families are
treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all
Americans through innovative advocacy, education and outreach programs.
HRC works to secure equal rights for LGBT individuals and families at
the federal and state levels by lobbying elected officials, mobilizing
grassroots supporters, educating Americans, investing strategically to
elect fair-minded officials and partnering with other LGBT
organizations. We attend a University where people from all different walks of life come to learn and grow as individuals. Ohio Dominican should, and can, be a place where everyone can feel at home. Please remember that this new year. Be kind to your brothers and sisters. The fact that we are all different is what makes us the same.

Hey Everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your winter break and I hope that you all had a joyous and blessed holiday season. As this new year begins I find myself looking to the past, and to the future. 2008 was a very big year for me. I graduated from high school, moved out on my own for the very first time, completed my first semester of college at Ohio Dominican University, made lots of new friends, and grew even closer to old ones. I will always have the great memories of 2008, and I look forward to making new ones in 2009. This coming year I will complete my first year of college at ODU, continue to live on my own and get more at home here in the great city of Columbus, and turn 20 years old. Ill no longer be a teenager, time is flying by. In just a few short years Ill be out of school and living in the "real world". Needless to say, I am nervous, but I am also very excited. I hope you all have a great new year! Thanks and Peace, MAc
Hey Everybody, So finals are almost done and we are all getting ready to go home for the holidays. I just want to say congrats on making it through the first semester here at ODU, and I hope you have a holiday season filled with love, joy, and miracles. Music is a big part of my life, so I wanted to send you all this song to help make your season just a lil' bit brighter, I cant give you the music, but the lyrics will do... "Cool Yule"
From Coney Island to The Sunset Strip
Somebody's gonna make a happy trip
Tonight, while the moon is bright
He's gonna have a bag of crazy toys
To give the groanies of the boys and girls
So dig, Santa comes on big
He'll come a callin' when the snows the most
When all you cats are sleepin' warm as toast
And you gonna flip when Old Saint Nick
Takes a lick on the peppernint stick
He'll come a flyin' from a higher place
And fill the stocking by the fire place
So you'll, have a yule that's cool
Yeah, from Coney Island to The Sunset Strip
Somebody's gonna make a happy trip
Tonight, while the moon is bright
He's gonna have a bag of crazy toys
To give the groanies of the boys and girls
So dig, Santa comes on big
He'll come a callin' when the snows the most
When all you cats are sleepin' warm as toast
And you gonna flip when the Old Saint Nick
Takes a lick on the peppernint stick
He'll come a flyin' from a higher place
And fill the stocking by the fire place
So you'll, have a yule that's cool
Have a yule that's cool ya'll
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays, Mac
