Canada eh....

Whats up everyone,

I hope that you all have had a great holiday season and are entering the New Year with clear minds and a great outlook for things to come. I always use the opening of a new year to look back over my achievements, as well as my setbacks, of the past year and redefine my long term and short term goals. It is a nice time to do a little self evaluation and try to continue the things that were done well and improve anything that has not worked out. For the New Year I would like to continue to focus on getting ready for my future career. This includes a lot of things like looking into internships, doing well in my spring courses, as well as further narrowing down what exactly I want to do with my degree. I hope that you all were able to do a little self evaluation as well through all the craziness of the holidays.

This past holiday season was one that I know I will never forget! Christmas was fantastic this year. With my little sister in college now, the times that everyone is home together are few and far between. So it was really nice to have everyone relaxing at home for a few days.  And as always, getting presents is a lot of fun =) lol. But I think the thing that I will remember most about this past break was my birthday.  My birthday is on New Year’s Eve, and I believe that I have told you previously that my girlfriend and I were taking a trip to Niagara Falls in Canada. But I was not expecting at all what was in store for me. I thought that Niagara Falls was just a big water fall with a few little tourist attractions scattered around, boy was I wrong. It is almost like a mini Las Vegas up there. I felt like I was staying in an amusement park. Just walking down the street there are so many attractions. There are Ferris Wheels, rides, and themed eateries just to name a few things all bunched together in this little town. Plus for New Year’s Eve, my birthday, there is a huge party with the streets blocked off, concerts, and probably around 50,000 people partying all around town! I even went to my first casino and ended up winning $50 =).  The only bad thing was that it was the middle of winter and we were in CANADA lol so it was pretty stinking cold! Everything was in walking distance of our hotel but just to walk outside we would have to wear thermals, a hoody or two, and a big coat. So we just pretty much dressed like we were going sled riding everyday haha. But we did have an amazing time and it definitely was a birthday I will never forget.

Well I hope everyone enjoyed hearing about my adventure to Canada. And I’ll try to figure out how to put some pictures on here for my next blog so make sure you check back in the upcoming weeks.

Christmas Traditions

Whats up everyone,

For this blog I thought I would let you guys know about some of my Christmas plans this year. I have always enjoyed Christmas ever since I was a little kid. Besides for getting presents lol, it is always nice because it is one of the only times of the year that everyone in my family is home together. Normally everyone has a million things to do with sports, work, and everything else that gets in the way nowadays.  But Christmas time is a time when everyone can come home and relax for a few days and enjoy each others company, at least until we are sick of each other again lol

Every year for Christmas Eve, my family has a tradition of different things we like to do. First off, we go out and pick out a live tree and then come home to decorate it, put the lights around, and then we always take a trip out to the front of the house to see how it looks from the street lol. When it gets dark out we all get in the car together and take a trip looking at all of the nice Christmas lights everyone has up around town. After we get home is when the fun starts lol. We get to open up our Christmas Eve present! =) haha Yeah, I know it is kind of childish but “When in Rome…” (Thank you Ron Burgandy)

Hopefully everyone has enjoyed a little insight into my Christmas traditions and I hope that you all have very happy holidays as well!

You stay classy Ohio Dominican,

-Curt

P.S. – Sorry to anyone who hasn’t watched Anchorman because you probably did not understand a few things out of the blog tonight. But you really should go pick it up because it is hilarious!

Birthday plans

Hey everyone,

Well I have a few blogs to make up, so I figured I would tell you about my plans for my birthday this year. My birthday is on New Years Eve, December 31st and I’ll be turning 22 this year. Last year I didn’t get a chance to go out and do anything special. I ended up spending my 21st birthday at home having a few drinks with my parents lol Then we played some rock band and set off fireworks lol What a way to spend your 21st huh?

So this year I decided that I was going to have to do it big. So my girlfriend and I set up a trip to Canada! We are heading up on the 30th and spending the night at a hotel beside Niagara Falls. That night there is a festival of lights that is supposed to be amazing. Tickets to that thing are like 50 bucks a pop, so it better be pretty good! Lol Then we are going to spend my birthday watching fireworks being shot off over the falls. It is going to be beautiful! I have never been out of the country before so this is going to be quite an experience for me. It is going to be awesome, I cannot wait!

So make sure you keep reading in the future and see how amazing my birthday was. And thank you Kristy for setting everything up, you are amazing!

Ahh break

What’s up everybody,

Ahhh it feels good to be on break! After that week of finals it couldn’t last long enough. But I am very happy with how I finished out my semester. I brought up my grade from mid-terms in every one of my classes. I ended up with 2 A’s, a B, & a C. So it’s not quite what I wanted but like Coach Carlson would say “You have to shoot for the moon to jump over the fence” lol. I have found that saying to be true in many instances. If you put your mind to something and try to achieve the very best possible, you may not quite reach that goal but you definitely will achieve something great.

Well it is nice being home. But I still haven’t gotten rid of my stress; Christmas shopping is not quite done yet lol. But it’s getting there, just a few more things to pick up and I’ll be finished =) I hope you all have everything bought because it is CRAZY out there in the malls. Well besides for some last minute shopping, I have just been settling in and getting used to life at home again. I still wake up sometimes feeling like I am missing a class or a football practice; it’s tough to get used to, but I don’t mind the free time.

I hope everyone is staying safe; the roads haven’t been the best lately. And make sure you check back soon, I have a few blogs to make up this week.

Curt
