So the holidays are over, I am kind of sad to see them go. I love getting together with all of my family and having a great time. I'm going to miss all the "family bonding" oh well! Christmas was wonderful, Santa was good to me this year, so I assume I was on the "nice" list :)!! I received a Plasma TV with a built-in DVD player, a ton of DVD’s, clothes, shoes, perfume, car seat covers and floor mats, money, Barack Obama collector's coins, TIME magazine about Barack Obama's run for the white house (my family and friends knooow how much I love Barack Obama :)), and a lot of happiness :) I also ate myself silly with Christmas cookies and food, food, food!! The holidays, gotta love em! I cannot remember the last time I was this excited about just spending time with those that I love and not having to worry about papers, tests, residents, or any of my other responsibilities as an ODU student. That is definitely one thing I’m not missing right now.
This break is just what the doctor ordered; it has given me time to sort things out as to what I am really doing with my life and where I want to go. Although, I have not reached any conclusions, I have started to map out my future a little better and trying to see if this path is one I'd really like to venture on. Only God knows what’s in store for me, but I'm enjoying the ride. These next few days I'm studying for the Praxis-I (math section) once again, and will be hopefully scheduling the test sometime within the next week. KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS PLEASE! God knows I need to pass this test, I love ODU but I HATE being a broke college student! Lol :) come on 172!!!!! (That’s the score I need in order to pass the Math section)
Besides thinking of my future and studying for this test, I have been indulging in relaxation. From bubble baths to just hanging out with friends. This is THE life! I love not having to do anything (at least for a few weeks, I couldn't make it a habit. I'd go insane) Ohhhh, I forgot to tell you all, I'll be going to England for May Term this semester :) I'm so excited, I made my first deposit two weeks ago, and I have NO IDEA how I’m going to pay for it, BUT I’m going to go. I mean how many opportunities in life will I have to travel at half price? Might as well take advantage of the full college experience! I cannot waiiiiiit! Ahhhh I’m so excited! Since I've probably bored you to death with my ramblings, I am going to go and watch some TV shows that I've recorded throughout the semester that I haven't had a chance to watch.
Happy Belated Holidays to all :)
Alisha
p.s. 15 more days until the 44th President is sworn into office :) :)
Well Christmas break is FINALLLY here! So far, so good. I’ve put up two Christmas trees so far, one more to go. STILL have yet to unpack from moving back home for a month!!! I have had a great time catching up with family and friends though. It’s one of the best parts of this long break. I also have enjoyed all the FREE, YUMMY, HOME-COOKED meals I’ve been receiving! I am toooo excited about that! I have not been sleeping all that well though, I’m not sure what it is but hopefully it works itself out before I turn into a zombie!!! I have been cuddling up with the remote and catching up on my tivo’d shows as well, this has been great, all my missed episodes of Jon and Kate plus 8, love it! I am absolutely in love with that show, it’s pretty much amazing! I would NOT be one to copy the family and have 2 sets of multiples but it looks fun in an odd kind of way …who knows maybe I’m just weird!!! I am starting to catch the “imissyou blues”, not directed toward anyone in particular, but just all my amazing friends at ODU, it’s going to be a loooong month without them. I’m sure I’ll manage!
Christmas shopping days are dwindling down, 10 MORE DAYS and it’s Christmas, “the most wonderful time of the year” I cannot wait, besides the fact that I’m running low on shopping funds I am still determined to get SOMETHING for all the important people in my life, just a little something to let them know I care!!!
This semester has panned out to be a GREAT one J 3 A’s and one B, sadly I only received a 3.4 as the semester GPA but that’s okay, next semester? 4.0? Yes I’m determined! Other than the lack of a 3.5 or 4.0 I’m quite pleased with myself and how I did this semesterJ. Next semester I am taking 5 classes so it may be a bit more challenging, but I’ll keep my spirits up and fingers crossed and I’ll be just fine J
Have a fabulous time with your loved ones; Happy Holidays to you and yours,
Alisha!
Wow! I can't believe that this semester is really over! It seems like yesterday I was beginning my senior year of College and now I've already finished half of it. Time really is flying. This past semester has been one of the most rewarding and most challenging semesters of my college career, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I have learned so much from not only the professors, but my friends, and also myself. I feel that as an individual I am starting to really focus on my future on figure out what will work best for me and how to achieve it. It only took 3 years to get to that point (haha :))
This past Friday, was quite eventful. I had a theatre final which went over amazingly well!!! I love that class and I sure am going to miss it. After my final Res Life had a Holiday Party for the RA's, this was soooo much fun. We dressed up in our ugliest Christmas sweaters/outfits and had the best time ever! We ate, we laughed, we took photos, and we had a gift exchange...it was by far my favorite time together with the entire staff! (Pics will be included in this entry) Later that day other young ladies and I went to a Women's empowerment symposium, brought to us by the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Mrs. Cynthia and friends. We learned more about each other, ourselves, and also had a chance to really connect with one another. This was a very powerful outing and I am so glad that we all took part in this and made it the best day, Complete with dinner, swimming, line dancing, manicures, massages, and conversation this was an awesome Friday!
The rest of the weekend went by in kind of a daze, it snowed, I slept, and this continued the rest of the weekend! This week I have two finals, one tomorrow and one on Wednesday. The endless amounts of studying starts TONIGHT! I feel a starbucks run coming on later!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL ON FINAL AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

<--from all different staffs we pulled together a Family Portrait lol
<--my staff, which is by far the BEST staff! :)
<--me as a Kindergarten Teacher! lol!
I Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving!!! I had a great time with my family and friends. I got to spend time with a lot of people that I haven't seen in forever, so that's always great. I also went ice skating with a group of friends, let's just say it was quite an experience!!! BUT I didn't fall AT ALL!!! so yay :)
The BEST part of my break was SHOPPING! That’s my true love...I bought so many gifts that I'm pretty much done with everyone on my list! This means the next few paychecks are going for my own Christmas presents!!! Someone has to spoil me at Christmas time, so it might as well be ME!!! :) I started shopping on Thanksgiving Day, around 4:30am; my mom and I went to Meijer and hit up the sales before black Friday. I didn't get back home until 8am that morning and immediately had to start on the rest of my desserts for dinner. (In my family I am in charge of all the desserts, so I ended up making 2 sweet potato pies and 3 pound cakes) around 3:30am Friday I was back up to hit the streets and start shopping. I literally shopped till I dropped that day! I returned home about 1pm and slept till 6pm, it was a loooooooong day, but it was well worth it! I got a lot of good deals so I'm not complaining one bit! I love to shop, but I REALLY love to shop when there are a million and one sales going on! The downside is that my bank account is on a diet for now, until this Friday when I get paid, so I will not be shopping or anything that requires money this week!!
Now it's back to the book for one more week. In 20 minutes I have a psychology test and then I am done with psych for this semester. I don't know if I mentioned it before but I recently picked psych up as a minor because my psych 100 class interested me more than I thought it would. I love it! Next semester I will be taking two more psych classes (child development and human sexuality) I’m excited to see what these classes have in store for me!
Off to cram a little bit more,
Alisha
