The study of mental processes and human and animal behavior is the central focus of the Psychology curriculum at Ohio Dominican University . The Psychology curriculum and related research opportunities, along with volunteer and field study experiences, are designed to familiarize students with a wide range of theories and concepts across the discipline, and answer age-old questions about the psychological, biological and environmental influences on behavior as it relates to development, motivation, thinking and memory, learning, personality, social relationships, psychological disorders and counseling.

Whether studies emphasize social and developmental Psychology, clinical counseling and applied Psychology, or natural science Psychology, students gain experience with research methodologies and develop research skills in literature review, hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and scientific writing. Ohio Dominican Psychology graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in mental health, research and social service, and business and industry. Many graduates choose to continue their studies to achieve master’s or doctoral degrees.
