Majors at Ohio Dominican
Political Science
Among the most ancient of disciplines, Political Science is also said to be one of the most recently and fully developed areas of the social sciences. In its broadest sense, Political Science is the study of government, political processes and behaviors; and the policies instituted by governments and their effects upon the individual, the community and the world. At Ohio Dominican University, Political Science majors will learn to differentiate among the various political structures that currently exist; condemn those that harm humans and their rights; assess power struggles and conflicts within governments; and explore relationships among nationals – all with the goal of working toward a more just and humane world.
Ohio Dominican’s Political Science graduates develop a comprehensive understanding of the American political system that prepares them for a wide range of career options, including federal, state and local government; public policy and private interest groups; business and corporations; regional, transnational and international organizations; campaign management; journalism; and high school and college teaching.
