Majors at Ohio Dominican
Finance
Today’s business environment is made up of established firms, entrepreneurial start-ups and virtual “dot.coms” that reflect a variety of business structures -- from non-profit organizations to partnerships to those that are publicly traded. These enterprises are led by boards, groups or individuals; some of whom make questionable decisions and others who display exceptional business judgment coupled with sound moral principles. At Ohio Dominican, Business majors are prepared to navigate these uncertain waters, as they are introduced to not only contemporary business practices and knowledge, but also to the core values and ethics they will be called upon to exercise in their chosen profession.
In addition to encouraging students to develop the skills and talents necessary to pursue a professional career, Ohio Dominican University ’s Finance major requires students to develop their critical thinking, communication, research, collaborative, decision-making, and reflective skills, all hallmarks of the liberal arts tradition.
ODU Finance graduates are in demand. The Finance major offers students the unique opportunity to study for either the NASD Series 6 or Series 7 Exams, which in conjunction with ODU’s internship program, will provide students with a distinct advantage in the marketplace, in particular, the financial services field. A liberal arts education with a major in Finance places Ohio Dominican graduates in an enviable and timely position with those companies seeking graduates who are morally and ethically suited for today’s business challenges.
