English

Degree offered: Bachelor of Arts

Great literature is at the heart of Ohio Dominican University ’s English major, which encompasses authors ranging from Chaucer to Shakespeare and Faulkner to Whitman. Our distinguished curriculum also includes courses in international, women's, minority and contemporary literature to reflect the changing dynamics of the written word. Poets, playwrights and fiction writers will develop their talents in creative writing classes and have the opportunity to be published in our literary magazine, Gesture.

State-of-the-art technological support and instruction on computer software assist students in completion of coursework and prepare graduates for the 21st century workplace. In fact, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English prepares Ohio Dominican graduates for successful careers in a wide variety of professions. Although many students choose English as the foundation for teaching certification, our graduates also enjoy challenging and rewarding jobs in business, industry and government, and are well-positioned to continue studies at the graduate level.
