Production Synopsis: Leading men—Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing —both assume the identity of Jack’s fictitious brother Ernest. This of course leads to immense confusion and comedy when each of their love interests, Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew, fall in love with men that they believe are called Ernest. With the added pressure of brutal expectations from Gwendolen’s mother, Lady Bracknell, the situation escalates in a manner that only a classic piece of Victorian Era satire could. Eventually the men are forced to come clean, with rather entertaining results. The last act yields an unpredictable surprise as love and luck pay off in the end.
